Camerawork

Three Camera Shots: - The long shot at 3.44 emphasises the sci fi genre since the shot is of the earth with a signal going into space and it depicts the conflict as a huge issue . This is done to portray to the audience that the signal is very important and an other worldly problem which raises the stakes.  - The medium close up used at 2.22 is used to show the women's interaction with the setting. The screens in the  background presents to the audience that her character is working hard and is passionate and invested in her work. This characteristic is also presented as she is willing to sacrifice herself for the world. - Another medium close up shot is used at 3.53 to show both the actors reactions at the same time. This is used to tell the audience the importance of the signal as both the actors are shocked and stressed about the situation. Camera angles:  -At 3.34 a high angle shot is used to show the audience how huge the machine is ,since it almost fi...

Blog Feedback and LR Response (1)

Mise-en-scene WWW: You are using some great observation skills and starting to use the key media terms such as 'high key lighting', 'setting' plus effects accurately. You have also zoomed in on specific details and talked about 'focal points' and how things 'imply' which shows analysis and which is really good at this stage. Well done!  EBI: Use the media glossary to make sure you are using words like 'connotation' and 'producer' / 'consumer' whenever you can in your blog posts.  Adverts WWW-You have analysed the Water Aid advert well but need to consider that this is a charity to start by considering the main message before you then use observations + effect to PROVE your point.  EBI- I cannot see the Ford car advert so ask me to show you how to find and use that image. The use of 'non verbal codes' is accurate and great at this stage  🙂 Now that we have studied mise-en-scene, you can go back and see if you can use mor...

Mise-en-scene: Stranger Things Analysis

Setting The clip starts in a   laboratory which juxtaposes the later scenes in a regular suburban town. This is used to subvert the audiences expectations of the audience as the main characters are just young children. Also the setting is used towards the end of the clip as another subversion of the audience's expectations since will enters his house which gives a sense of safety however, he isn't safe as the monster doesn't use the laws and rules of this world.   Lighting The lighting flickers in a few scenes which is used to  intrigue the audience and is a sign that danger is near. The producer uses the light flicker to bring more low key lighting into different scenes which reinforces the horror and mystery genre that stranger things is.   Props When the will runs into his house there are many props that should mean safety for example the lock , dog and phone however, the lock and phone are useless. The producers may have used this to convey ...

Mise-en-scene: Analysis

Iron Man 3 I think this trailer will have the effect on the audience of  emphasising the action and sci-fi genre. The costumes makes me think this because the different iron man suits accentuate the technology that is in this universe which illustrates that it is sci-fi genre. Also there is a scene where Tony is lying on the floor with blood and dirt on his face. This scene uses actor movement and makeup to show the audience that he is defeated which conveys there was a battle/fight highlighting the action genre. Red Dead  Redemption I think this   trailer to focus on the fact that this takes place in a western/cowboy setting with outlaws and thugs . The costume uses cowboy hats and old fashioned , worn down outfits to illustrate that the time period was long ago where cowboys roamed western USA. The campfire prop is used to show the lack of technology and it emits high key lighting to let the audience see the actors performance .  Stranger Things...

Mise-en-scene Work

Image
Costume She has a hospital gown on along with something with wires attached to her head. This implies to the consumer that she is being tested or examined in some way . Lighting This scene is lit with high key lighting which draws attention to the overly white room . The producer uses this   to show how the room is very sterilised  and has an uneasy feeling.  High key lighting is also used to make sure all the actor is seen from her facial expression to her body language because she is the focal point of this scene. Actors The actor's facial expression displays focus and determination which could be demonstrating that she is trying to manipulate or somewhat control the can. Her posture and position of her hand also imply this as she is fixed and stable. Makeup And Hair  I can see that her hair is shaved off which conveys she ...
