Blog Feedback and LR Response (1)

 Mise-en-scene

WWW: You are using some great observation skills and starting to use the key media terms such as 'high key lighting', 'setting' plus effects accurately. You have also zoomed in on specific details and talked about 'focal points' and how things 'imply' which shows analysis and which is really good at this stage. Well done!
EBI:Use the media glossary to make sure you are using words like 'connotation' and 'producer' / 'consumer' whenever you can in your blog posts.
Adverts
WWW-You have analysed the Water Aid advert well but need to consider that this is a charity to start by considering the main message before you then use observations + effect to PROVE your point.
EBI- I cannot see the Ford car advert so ask me to show you how to find and use that image. The use of 'non verbal codes' is accurate and great at this stage 🙂 Now that we have studied mise-en-scene, you can go back and see if you can use more specific examples such as colour scheme and 'logo' and 'tag line'.
Fruit Bowl - Your fruit bowl is so cool! Nice design and Autumn colours.
Film Poster
WWW- You are picking up on the conventions of the film poster well and you are starting to think about how design features show genre and convey messages. I really liked the fact that you have started to consider effects on audience such as misogyny and the possibility of negative connotations too. Excellent.
EBI- You need to be more analytical (talk about effects of choices made in media language by the producers and effect on audience), for instance you say it is dramatic in Doctor Who clip (in First 10 Question post) but you have not focused on specific moments or detail to prove your point.
LR
  1. Go back to the first blog post and, in green font please so I can see the changes, add a lot more detail to the analysis of the Doctor Who scene. Use what we have learned on mise-en-scene (CLAMPS) to add a new paragraph considering  'props' and 'lighting' and colour schemes and actor movement and their connotations. Use the media glossary and GLO words in our books to add more media terminology such as 'reinforce' and 'emphasise' and 'consumer'.
2. I would like you to push yourself to do some of the extension tasks. Please do read the Stranger Things article and make notes in your blog (bullet points are fine) about how mise-en-scene gives us insight into the characters e.g Will's 'bowl cut' hairstyle.

Thanks! And well done on an excellent start to the subject 🙂
