Audience Effects Theory

1) Passive audience is the view that audiences passively take in information from the media that these messages have the same effect on everyone.

2) Active audience is the more modern and generally accepted view that audiences interact with and make conscious decisions regarding the media they consume.

3) Hypodermic needle  is the suggestion that audiences are always passive and therefore take the intended message from the producer as if it was injected into their minds. This assumes no individual difference in audience members.

>It is a story that follows someone else with other worldly problems in a world that is different to our own so it can make the audience feel escapism from their real life.

>It's a show with many seasons that make the audience connect with the characters as there are so many episodes to show different characters' personalities.

5)Blue Planet 2 paragraph

-Blue Planet 2 is a documentary which is an example of surveillance in Blumler and Katz's theory of gratifications as it provides information that is not widely known .The audience also can feel voyeuristic pleasure as blue planet is mostly watching animals in their natural habitat with cameras that are hidden.
