Film Poster Analysis

Jaws (1975) - IMDb
Language:This poster shows the consumer that it is a thriller or horror using the imagery of a shark which many people are afraid of .In addition, the word Jaws is in a bold red font which could be alluding to blood especially because it is placed on top of the woman swimming with a massive shark under her ,showing us that she is in danger.

Industry:Jaws was made by universal pictures and Zach/brown productions and the director is Steven Spielberg who is very well known in the movie industry.

Audience:The fact that the poster uses the word "terrifying" conveys that children would be scared therefore the target audience is adults. Furthermore, the movie is rated PG so if children want to go their parents should go with them.

Representation:The only human character on this poster is a women however , the poster is implying that she is going to die or get really hurt. This could be playing into the stereotype that women are helpless and unaware especially since this movie was released in 1975 which was much more misogynist then todays society.
