Denotation And Connotation

The producer of this water aid advert is trying to persuade the audience to donate to its charity. The non-verbal code "dig toilets not graves" conveys to the audience that this boy and his community have bad hygiene and sanitation that can lead to death. This makes the audience sympathise and feel pity towards this boy making them more likely to donate and help the charity. The producers of this ford advert are trying to convey to the audience that their car is so good and reliable that it can take you all around the city and make you more adventurous and bold.There is a non verbal code that suggests to the audience that owning the keys to the car makes them more adventurous as " the city is in your hands". This tagline   makes the consumer feel like if they buy this product they will be a better and more interesting person , leading to more sales of this car. Language: This poster shows the consumer that it is a thriller or horror using the imagery of a shark which many people are afraid of .In addition, the word Jaws is in a bold red font which could be  alluding to blood especially because it is placed on top of the woman swimming with a massive shark under her ,showing us that she is in danger. Industry: Jaws was made by universal pictures and Zach/brown productions and the director is Steven S pielberg who is very well known in the movie industry. Audience: The fact that the poster uses the word "terrifying" conveys that children would be scared therefore the target audience is adults. Furthermore, the movie is rated PG so if children want to go their parents should go with them.
