Media Assessment Learner Response

 Q.1- 1/1

Q.2- 1/1

Q.3- 9/12

Expand: dominant red colour where?

Is that the main point?

Re-writing this question

The advert is trying to convey that this perfume is rich and elegant. In this advert Beyonce is wearing a red dress which connotes to love, passion, elegance and sexuality. The camera angle is low and her facial expression is determined which both portray her as powerful and dominant. This is further emphasised by Beyonce's status as a celebrity. The high-key lighting is mostly focused on Beyonce as the product is hers and draws the audience's attention to her. This advert has text that tells the audience that this product is made by Beyonce which could appeal to more materialistic people (possibly aspirers) as they want to feel as luxurious and elegant as Beyonce .

Q.4- 2/2

I think this is one of my strongest questions because I was able to identify the connotations of  the advert.

Q.5- 4/6

Really good effort: Now add more detail + specifics such as costume and logo and imperatives + words in slogan ('graves')

Point- answering question

I think this is one of my weaker questions as I didn't write the point and I didn't talk about the slogan and logo.

Q.6- ?/8

(I didn't see this question so this is my answer)

Why might charities use pictures of children in their advertising?

Charities might use pictures of children to make audiences feel sympathy towards children as they are innocent and don't deserve bad things happening to them. Therefor the consumer may donate due to pity and sympathy. Also children have a whole life to live and have a future so charities use this fact to make the audience feel obligated to donate as they want to make the child's life and future better.

  1. Thank you for doing the last question - although for an 8 marker, I would use the rule of 4 marks per paragraph so think two full paragraphs would have been better if you had been trying for full marks. I would have awarded you 2 for this as it does not have enough reference to advert specifically.

  2. The Beyonce re-write is a lot more detailed and using media terminology, well done!
